Mahima Chaudhry (real name Ritu Chaudhry) was born on Spetmeber 13, 1973 in British Columbia. She did her schooling from Loretto, Darjeeling. She belonged to a high-class Punjabi Family. Born of Wing Commander L.K. Dutta, now retired and mother Jennifer, Lara Dutta is the youngest of three daughters.
